Once you've learned the basic rolling fingerflip, the 180 Varial Finger Flips is a good move to work on. In this trick you'll be rolling forward and do a Finger Flip, but the board will also do a 180 underneath you.
There are other variations of this trick. This is just my way, and it's probably the most common way to do it.
As with the normal Finger Flip ride forward at a moderate speed. Make sure you are rolling smoothly.
Put one foot on the tail, and the other in the middle of the board, or maybe a little further back. You should be on the balls of your feet.
At the same time, reach down and grab the nose with your lead hand, thumb on top.
Remember to try to keep your knees close together. This makes your jump smoother, and makes the move look much better.
Now take off as with the normal Finger Flip. However, look at frame 2. You'll see that I'm lifting the nose and pulling it slightly to my heel side.
As I get in the air I start to flip the board. There are a couple of things to notice in frames 3 and 4. First, notice that the board is at about a 45 degree angle from the ground. The 180 varial is done this way. The board doesn't stay horizontal. Second -- notice that I throw the board me. This keeps me above the board.
In frames 5 and 6 I'm in the air, waiting for the board to come around. I keep my feet pulled up in frame 5, giving the board a chance to do it's thing.
In frame 6, the board has almost completed it's movement, so I start lowering my feet.
Finally, in frames 7 and 8, I smack my feet back down, catching the board and landing solidly. Note that I'm on the balls of my feet, in a normal riding position.
