DVD Review: Make You sMile

Anyone who'se been following the longboard world for the last year has to be familiar with Adam Colton, and his website, whoisadamcolton.com. Adam and his friends have really invented their own style of longboarding, based on the concept that having fun is important.

Adam has recently released a cool DVD called "Make You sMile". The DVD compiles high quality versions of some of his website vids and 8 new vids too...

If you've not seen any of Adam's vids, for sure go to his site and check them out. These guys are doing some stuff on very long longboards that you just don't see very often. They are sure-footed beyond belief, and creative too.

Every time I watch one of Adam's videos, I want to go out and longboard. During times when I'm dedicating myself to doing freestyle or riding a shortboard, I have to intentionally refrain from seeing Adam's stuff. It's just impossible to watch this stuff and not want to longboard.

But the videos REALLY look good on high-quality DVD. Unlike the typical skate video, which is poorly shot, edited together with songs you've heard before, and probably doesn't show you anything you haven't seen before -- well -- Make You Smile is well shot, has original music, shows you stuff you haven't seen before, etc. These guys are students of video production, and it shows. These are really more like "short films", with shots actually planned out. A lot of thought went into these.

Did I mention there's over 2 hours of footage here? Well, there is. When was the last time you bought a skate video and it had that much stuff? Try never.

This video will show you how to have fun riding a longboard around your house, around campus, down a hill, or through the park. You'll see oldschool board-walking down with precision and style. Yes - style. You will see style like many of you have never seen before.

I'm not going to go through a review of every section, since they did a good job of that over at Silverfish Longboarding. I will tell you that not too many videos actually make me want to go out and skate. This one does. It will make you want to get a longboard. You will want to invent your own tricks. It will show you what a good skate video should be like.
