OK all you little flip monkeys. The Mighty Fletcher has returned. This another clip from about 2 years ago, when the 12 year old Fletcher already had the Varial Flip down.
The varial kickflip is a combination of the backside pop shoveit (coming soon) and the ollie kickflip. You will want to know both of these moves before learning this one. The board does a 180 under you, while it also flips. Pretty cool. Check out the video clip here. |

Rolling forward, Fletcher moves his rear foot into backside pop shove-it position. His front foot is a little further back than in a normal pop shove-it, because he will need to use it to flick the board into a flip.

In frames 4 through 6, Fletcher flicks the board, his front foot extends out in classic ollie kickflip style. The board does a 180 underneath him, and had completed 1/2 of it's flip.

As the board completes it's 180 and flip, Fletcher is right above it, and is ready to catch it. His front foot comes right back into position -- which is a result of his centered body position. If you pay attention to staying centered over your board, your foot will come back on top of the board naturally.
