The Rock 'n' Fakie is another basic mini-ramp/quarter-pipe move. It's a simple trick, but requires balance and practice. If you want to really rip on any kind of ramp, you really need to get the Rock 'n' Fakie down.
I suggest you wear your helmet when learning this. You need to make sure your board is stable when sitting on its rail (edge). Check out the video clip here. |

In frame 1, Fletcher approaches the ramp in a normal riding position, one foot just behind the front truck, one on the tail. If you are bigger, you'll might want your front foot on top of the front truck.

In Frame 4, Fletcher pushes the front wheels down, rocking the board on the coping. Notice that his center of gravity is still out over the ramp. This will help him bring it back in.

Now the scarey part. He lifts the front wheels just enough so that his front truck doesn't hang up on the coping rolling backward on the rear wheels. He watches his front wheels, so he knows when to put them back down.
