The 50/50 Finger Flip is an old freestyle trick. I learned them sometime in 1979. There are many variations. The move is usually done as a stationary trick, though it is possible to do it from a roll too. Normally I think a rolling one is easier if you start from a fakie.
In this clip, I show you 2 variations of the trick. Besides the one depicted in the sequence below, the clip includes a variant method of getting into the 50/50 fingerflip truck stand position. Other than that, these are both the very basic versions of this trick. Check out the video clip here. |

In frame 1, I start the trick from a stationary tail stall position. I reach down and grab the nose, with my hand fliped over (my fingers are on top of the board, and my thumb is under it. Your rear foot should be on the tail, not half on the tail/half on the ground. It will probably be on the very tip of the tail.

In frames 3 and 4, I turn the board over, landing with my rear foot on the truck. I'm balancing on the tip of the tail, with my lead hand still grabbing the nose.

After standing briefly on the truck, its time to come back down. You just hop up a little bit and use your hand to complete the other 50% of the finger flip. |

I land solidly in a pretty normal riding position.
