360 Shove-It

I've been wanting to post this trick for a while, but it's taken a while to get good footage. The old footage was terrible -- this is better. The 360 Shove-It is a pretty old freestyle trick. I recommend learning the 180 Shove-It and the Fakie 180 Shove-It first.

Check out the video clip here.

Ride forward at medium speed. Your front foot should be on the front truck, with your toes on the nose. Your foot should be facing roughly the same direction as the board. Your rear foot should be in an almost normal riding position behind the rear truck (on the tail), but hanging a little more off the toe side.

You will be using both of your feet to whip the board into a 360 spin. I tend to get most of the spin out of the front foot.

In frame 2, begin the move by simultaneously jumping up and using my feet to get the board going. As you can see, I do kick it a bit with the rear foot. At this point you can see also that my front foot is still in good contact with the board. Even though I'm jumping, I use the traction of my front foot and a twist of the ankle to spin the board.

In these next 2 frames you can really see the ankle twist flinging the board around. The tail starts gets to about 90 degrees in frame 4.

Now the board is moving. There's nothing else you can do to manipulate it until it is time to catch it. In frame 6 you can see that the board is 180 degrees around.

Also notice in these frames that my center of balance is right above the middle of the board. It's spinning right below me. This is important. You may start to jump sideways so you can watch it moving. Don't. It needs to be right under you.

In frames 7 and 8 I'm beginning to come down. The board reaches 270 degrees, and I lower my feet to catch it.

In frame 9, I have caught the board nice and solid and continue to pivot just a bit to complete the 360.

In frame 10, I crouch down a bit to pretend I have some cool style. I was actually really happy with this landing -- look at the feet! Totally solid, ready for action.
